Job Summary:

Technicians are responsible for the installation, service, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems for a variety of residential, commercial, and enterprise level customers.

Installation Technician - Residential and Small Business

  • Install electronic security systems in residences, small businesses, and new residential construction and resolve installation issues.
  • Wire new construction and existing structures for security systems.
  • Program security systems and devices.
  • Provide customer training on the use and basic troubleshooting of common issues and programming features.
  • Inspect quality of work performed to ensure conformity with specifications and requirements.
  • Document work performed and corrective actions thoroughly and descriptively.

Installation Technician - Commercial

  • Install electronic security systems for commercial customers, including access control/card access, CCTV, and intrusion and resolve installation issues.
  • Wire new construction and existing structures for commercial security systems.
  • Program security systems and devices.
  • Perform system testing with customers.
  • Provide customer training on the use and basic troubleshooting of common issues and programming features.
  • Inspect quality of work performed to ensure conformity with specifications and requirements.
  • Document work performed and corrective actions thoroughly and descriptively.

Service Technician - Residential and Commercial

  • Perform various tasks related to the service of electronic security systems, such as troubleshooting, repairing, updating, upgrading, and maintenance.
  • Analyze and diagnose system failures to determine causes and necessary correction.
  • Inspect quality of work performed to ensure conformity with specifications and requirements.
  • Document work performed and corrective actions thoroughly and descriptively.

Installation & Service Technician - Commercial and Enterprise Accounts

  • Install electronic security systems for commercial/enterprise customers, including access control/card access and video surveillance systems and resolve installation issues.
  • Program security systems and devices.
  • Perform system testing with customers.
  • Perform Network Design of security systems, such as setting up storage (e.g. storage area network or network attached storage), incorporating analog cameras, setting up IP addresses, and transmit protocols, and setting up network (such as firewalls, VPNs, and password protection), ensuring software compatibility, and ensuring network performance. 
  • Provide customer training on the use and troubleshooting of complex issues and programming features.
  • Perform various tasks related to the service of electronic security systems, such as troubleshooting, repairing, updating, upgrading, and maintenance.
  • Analyze and diagnose system failures to determine causes and necessary correction.
  • Inspect quality of work performed to ensure conformity with specifications and requirements.
  • Document work performed and corrective actions thoroughly and descriptively.

Qualifications:

All Technicians are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and customer and peer interaction.
  • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Technologically driven with a desire to learn new technology continually.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Career-oriented.
  • Electrical/Electronics, Low Voltage, and Construction Knowledge.

Installation Technicians are expected to meet the following additional requirements:

  • Understanding of wiring and wiring per code.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams, manuals, and project documentation.
  • Commercial Installation Technicians generally require previous experience in residential and small business installation.

Service Technicians are expected to meet the following additional requirements:

  • Previous experience as an Installation Technician.
  • Commercial Technicians generally require previous experience in residential and small business Service.

Physical Requirements:

Includes, but is not limited to, lifting and carrying 50+ pounds, exposure to confined spaces (such as attics, basements, crawl spaces), ability to manipulate objects (such as feeding wires and assembling system components), ascending and descending ladders, operating hand tools, and driving trucks, large vans, and hauling trailers.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicant must pass a background check pursuant to Illinois PERC Card requirements for all security industry personnel.
  • Applicant must pass a drug test.
  • Applicant must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.

Work Schedule:

Full Time.

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Occasional weekends and overtime required.

On-Call Rotation required for after-hours calls (evenings, weekends, holidays).

Service Area: Illinois and Missouri, mostly in the Greater St. Louis/Metro Area.
